Participated in the Exchange Program in 2018

Throughout my life, I have had many memorable experiences that vary from being the worst times and some being the best. One of my best days in life was definitely being part of the Bunkyo Gakuin University Multi-lateral Exchange Program in 2018. Sure it was a roller coaster ride but the amount of love and support I was given all through the program was worth it. The program broadened my perspective of the Japanese culture from religion to social development and its society. I’d say I was lucky to be part of the whole Japan trip, I was able to live and experience the Japanese life and not just seeing through the foreigner/tourist point of view. There, I met some of the most amazing people that I’m proud to call friends. I’d say the whole Japan experience would be different if it wasn’t because of my dorm mates – Pineapple Kings, the Nishikata girls and Japanese friends that I made during my stay. Honourable mentions to Yuki, Kiandro and Tatsuya. I was given the opportunity to stay with a host family over the weekend in Chiba. The Kaneko family treated me with great care and kindness that reminded me of home. The people working at the GSI office was helpful and attentive to all of their students, which to my surprise is different to my local university. Excursions and activities involved in the program ran amazingly smoothly with the help of both Resident Assistant – Donovan and Natalie. Notable excursions – Karuizawa trip, Tokyo DisneySea, Studio Ghibli, Nezu shrine festival, temple and shrine visits as well as the beautiful gardens around Tokyo. Though the 4-months journey ended pretty quickly, I’m glad that I was able to be a part of it as they have become milestones that will be remembered forever.
