In front of the great hall, there is a large incense burner. It is customary to purchase incense, and wave the smoke over yourself, so as to complete a ritual purification. Many people believe in the health benefits of the smoke from this incense. So after following the ritual, they were taking more photos!

The Kaminarimon (“Thunder Gate”) is the outer of two large entrance gates ultimately leading to the Sensoji temple. The gate, with its lantern and statues, is popular with tourists. Jumping in front of the gate cannot be so popular, though!
