Mimi had her last internship in the rabbit class and Spencer in the squirrel class in the morning. They will have new classes next week. They participated in the Japanese culture club, one of the extracurricular activities performed by students this evening.
ミミもスペンサーも、今日の午前中でウサギ組とリス組の実習が最後になり、来週からは新しいクラスに入ることになります。今日は夕方から、日本文化研究会の活動に参加させてもらいました。
Spencer has had a tea ceremony experience in America, but Mimi had her first experience today. They looked so serious and did all small rituals and complex customs very well including folding the fukusa the red cloth used to purify tea utensils.
スペンサーはアメリカで茶道を経験したことがあると言っていましたが、ミミは初めての体験でした。茶道の様々な伝統的な所作を教えてもらい、袱紗も上手にたためたようです。
They also learned how and where to place the longest stem, the second longest stem, and the third longest one to make a triangle form. Ikebana, the Japanese flower arrangement, pays attention to the overall line and form of all plants materials used and emphasizes minimalism and asymmetry. Just like their works!
さらに華道では、花の長さやさす時の位置などを習い、非対称的な形を作ることで、生け花の美しさを表現しているようでした。二人の作品がそれを表していますね！
