Now Candice was drinking tea in this photo but you have to do many steps before drinking. For instance, you have to bow to excuse yourself for going first. Then you put the bowl of tea in front of your knees and thank the host for the tea, You pick the bowl up, put it in the palm of the left hand and raise it slightly with a bow of the head in thanks. And many more…  Tea ceremony seems a means of achieving modesty naturally.  Did the tea taste good, anyway, Candice?

次に抹茶を飲むことになりますが、飲む前にはたくさんのステップがあります。例えば、隣の人に自分が先に飲むことのお礼を言います。茶碗を自分の座っている前に持ってきます。そして、それを左手において、さらに感謝のお辞儀をします。キャンディスは、この写真で、ちょうどこれから２回手前に回すところです。茶道は謙遜の美徳を自然に獲得する方法でもあるようです。ところで、お茶はおいしかったのでしょうか。
